A DIY Guide To Install Your Home Cabinets

Many of us have experienced the frustration of having to repair home cabinets. Whether they are old or new, they can look shabby and worn if not properly maintained. Fortunately, there are several ways to fix them. Home cabinetry is usually made with MDF, either covered with either one of four substances: paper, melamine, wood, or thermofoil.

In this first step, we will cover the surface of your cabinets with a primer. Do not use a dark primer as it may warp the wood. Use semi-soft, sanding, and paint primer. Primer works by providing a barrier between the two layers of material and provides the first layer of color to help the paint adhere better. The primer may also prevent some of the darker colors in your paint from showing through on the surface of the cabinets. If you don’t feel comfortable applying the primer, you can purchase it at a hardware store or a do-it-yourself-kit.

For the next step, take your brush and dip it in either rubbing alcohol or acetone. These products are great because they offer a fast way to remove the loose dirt or dust that collects on your cabinets. Wipe down the surface of your cabinets with the brush, allowing the cleaner to sink into the surface of the wood. You may need to repeat the process for a couple of hours or until all of the grime and dirt has been removed. This process allows you to achieve great results because everything has been completely covered by the cleaner.

In the second step, we will move on to the sanding. Most people think that the first step is the dulling or sanding of the surface of the cabinet, but this is actually the most difficult step of the process. To accomplish this step successfully, you should use a medium-grade sandpaper, as you want to smooth out the surface before you move on to the next steps. The process of sanding may sound boring, but it is actually quite simple. You just need to dampen the sander’s bit, which opens up the dust particles that can be swept away with the grain of the sandpaper.

For the last step, you should take your sandpaper and apply it to a clean piece of paper wrap. Gently wipe the paper wrap across the surface of the cabinets, removing all of the dust from the edges of the cabinet. Place the paper wrap over the sanded surface of the laminate, making sure that the laminate overlaps by an inch or two.

For the third step, you will want to take some medium-grade wood filler and spray it into the spaces between the cabinets. Once the wood filler has completely dried, you can apply the second coat of melamine to the surface of the cabinets. Once the coat of melamine has dried, you can place the doors back into the cabinet, but make sure they are firmly aligned. For the last step, you should let dry, then sand the cabinets until they are completely smooth and free of any wood filler.

When your Home Cabinets Temecula are completely smooth and free of all imperfections, you are ready to paint them. Before applying the paint, you should cover the edges of your cabinets with an epoxy primer. This process is important, as it allows you to fill in the gaps between the cabinets with the paint. However, if you are using MDF cabinets, which do not have the possibility of gaps, then the only real option available is to use the epoxy filler.

There are many different types of materials available for kitchen cabinets. Some of these materials include MDF, particleboard, oak, pine, cherry, and maple. You can choose from among these materials and go for a particular type of material depending on your personal preference. If money is a constraint, then you can opt for solid wood cabinets. However, if you wish to add to the beauty of your kitchen cabinets, you can opt for either MDF or epoxy.
